Wake Up and Write Writer's Retreat Workshop

jason's workshop

If you don't know me, I'm Jason Sitzes, former director of Writers Retreat Workshop, editor/instructor for Breakout Novel Intensives, and have worked for over 20 years in the publishing business.

I'm announcing a very exciting four-day morning writing workshop/retreat that's happening in our backyard! That's right. A four-day workshop from August 22 through 25 (Mon-Thurs) from 9 am until 1 pm in the Cedar Park/Austin area. There is air-conditioned space for classes and writing so no worries about the Texas heat.

For two summers my wife, Lisa, has held three weeks of art camps for elementary students in this space. All a huge success, I decided to give it a go for adult writing "camps."

Watch me in this video explain what the week will look like. You can see the schedule, some additional pictures and register here.

Registration is very limited as classes will take place in our back studio. Plus, I want ample time for 1-1 sessions over 15 pages of work you'll send prior to our meeting.

Here is a brief schedule. If you have any questions please let us know.

If you've attended a workshop I've worked in the past, especially Writers Retreat Workshop, this morning schedule we put together years ago is very much based on that platform.

Monday thru Thursday
(All sessions in a/c studio space. From 11 am on plentiful shaded and a/c areas available for free-writing/critiques)

9:00am - Writing Practice (20mins)
9:30am - Class w assignments based on your work
11:00am - Critique/Diagnostic Groups & Snacks
Noon -1pm
Mon-Wed: Writing Time and 1-1 sessions over 15 pre-submitted pages
           Thursday: Readings
1:00pm- Closing (about 5 mins)

Monday Class: Fundamentals Rundown: Scene, Character, Description...Back to The Basics
Tuesday Class: Scene by Scene, Paragraph by Paragraph, Line by Line: Self-Editing
Wednesday Class: Virtual Instructor (TBA)
Thursday Class: Small Ideas to Big (Compelling) Places: Lateral Thinking and More

Again, here is the video for more information. Here is the link to the registration page to grab your space.

It's a chance for us all to get out, stretch our legs back into the writing world, and be challenged and inspired.
